Day 28 of 180 Days of Data Viz Learning #jdfi

I’m doing some form of data visualization learning for 180 days straight because I need to #JFDI.  See post explaining how and why I’m doing this.

I haven’t been keeping up with the posting this week because of an apartment lease signing and getting everything together.  I’ll be backdating some posts because I have putting in the work everyday, at least a little bit, and at the office everyday.

Three Takeaways Chapter 2 Chart Smart

  • In a single chart, keep the max number of lines to three or four if the lines are not intersecting at company points and will obscure picture.  Use a panel of charts to preserve clarity of each line instead.
  • Don’t mix two uncorrelated series with one scale on left and another one on right.
  • Keep shades moving from lightest to darkest since it will be difficult to contrast.
